Ace Pilot of the Zentraedi Flotilla, Miriya leads the attack on the SDF-1 which results in the death of Roy Fokker. Her pride is then put to the test as she wages a vendetta against Max Sterling, to see who is the best pilot. Constantly coming up short in these dogfights with Max, Miriya is driven to use the Protoculture Chamber to shrink from normal size (45 feet) to that of a Micronian (approximately 6 feet) in order to infiltrate the confines of the SDF-1 and assassinate her arch enemy. In a savage duel with Max, she finally realizes that what she feels is an emotion the humans call love. Rejecting her Zentraedi heritage for her newfound mate, she joins the Robotech Defense Force and is instrumental in the final battles.

"Constantly coming up short in these dogfights with Max ..."

This suggests that there was more than one dogfight; according to the TV series, their only one-on-one battle before Miriya's micronization was in episode 18, "Farewell Big Brother". Even if they had fought before (highly doubtful; the fight at the end of "The Big Escape", episode 12, was the only battle involving the female forces before Miriya launched her attack), it was in this episode that Khyron pointed out to Miriya that there was an ace among the Micronians whom she could not best, hence it only started nagging at her after this fight. It was in the very next episode, "Bursting Point", that she was Micronized and placed among the humans on the SDF-1.

Additionally, note that Miriya appears to be short for a Zentraedi (Breetai's entry placed your average Zentraedi at 60 feet tall), but average height for a human, making most Zentraedi very tall human beings when Micronized if these statistics are to be taken as consistent with one another.

Worth noting is that the ROBOTECH RPG and subsequent print sources place Miriya's human-size height at 5'10", but do not give her height at full Zentraedi size.
